Rapidity Dependence of the Inclusive Jet Cross Section in p p-bar Collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV

We report a new measurement of the rapidity and transverse-energy dependence of the inclusive jet production cross section in \ppbar\ collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV using 92 pb**(-1) of data collected with the DZero detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The differential cross section d^2sigma/dEt is presented as a function of jet transverse energy (Et) in five intervals of pseudorapidity (eta), up to |eta|=3, significantly extending previous CDF and DZero measurements. The results are compared to next-to-leading order QCD predictions for different parton distribution functions (PDFs). While good overall agreement is observed, the extended range of the current analysis indicates a preference for certain PDFs, and, in particular, for CTEQ4HJ.
